Simbarashe holds BComm and MSc degrees from National University of Science and Technology (NUST), is a Fellow of the South African Institute of Financial Markets (SAIFM) and a Governor on the SAIFM Board. He also sits on the Board of the Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) Academic Advisory with responsibilities to align theoretical academic training to the practical demands of industry. He is an Honorary Life member of UK-based CIPS.
He began his financial markets career in 1998 with New York-based investment banking firm, Fieldstone Private Capital Group as an investment banking analyst. Simbarashe subsequently joined ZSE-listed banking groups FBC Building Society and NMB Bank. During his tenure with NMB Bank, he assisted the University of Zimbabwe in the restructuring of the Banking and Finance degree programme initially on a part-time basis, and this culminated in the publication of two undergraduate study manuals for the Zimbabwe Open University; Financial Markets and Portfolio Management and Public Finance.
In South Africa, he has worked for MGSLG, Trademar Futures (futures trading), Vunani Private Clients (private client trading), Lehumo Capital (equity derivatives trading), and he is the founder of LABOSS (financial advisory and capacity building).
